Upon arrival at the Juan Santamaría International Airport located in San Jose, Costa Rica, a member of For The Ride Tours will greet you and take you to our first hotel where we will stay two nights. Accommodations on this trip include some of the most unique hotels and inns located with prime access to the beach and rainforest trails.
Day One
After breakfast we will meet with a local naturalist who will provide information to the group regarding the wide range of habitats and wildlife we will see on our rides. We will also learn proper bike handling techniques and eco-tourism tips to help minimize our impact on the environment. In the afternoon, we ride from the hotel to the Volcán Arenal National Park, where we will view the Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes of the world. After exploring the park roads, trails, and lava flows, guests have the option of relaxing in the natural Hot Springs.
Day Two
After breakfast, we gear up for a ride around the beautiful Lake Arenal on our way to Puerto San Luis for lunch. In the afternoon, we transfer to Miravalles, Guanacaste, where guests are free to explore this wonderland located at the edge of the cloud forest.
Day Three
After a hearty breakfast, we ride the slopes of Miravalles Volcano, from the tropical rainforest transitioning up to the cool Tropical Cloud forest of the extinct Santa Maria Volcano. From there, rolling hills on rural roads and trails with numerous river and creek crossings take us to a fun descent that parallels the canyon of the Río Liberia. Our ride concludes in a mixed landscape of tropical and dry forest as we arrive in the city of Liberia where we transfer to Hacienda Guachipelín where we will be staying for the next two nights.
Day Four
After breakfast, get ready to discover hidden waterfalls and pools of pristine blue water, filtered by volcanic rock. Many guests may chose to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, while others will fit in another ride, exploring the many trails in the area. Following lunch, we meet our hosts at KAZM Canon for an afternoon of zip lines that crisscross the canyon of the Río Blanco. Over dinner, we swap tales of the day – from the relaxing waterfalls, great trails, and excitement of zip lining, this is how great memories are made.
Day Five
Today guests have the option of exploring the mud pots at the Volcán Rincón de la Vieja National Park or spending the morning doing more zip lining, taking in the waterfalls, or trail riding before we transfer to our next hotel in the Gulf of Papagayo. The afternoon can be spent at leisure exploring the beach and enjoying the warm waters of the tropical pacific.
Day Six
Today we ride to the town of Sardinal and out along the beautiful North Pacific, crossing several beautiful beaches before arriving at the secluded beach towns of Playa Conchal or Playa Real. After taking in the views, we dine on authentic Caribbean food at one of our favorite local restaurant.
Day Seven
After an open morning to go kayaking, relax on the beach, or riding in the surrounding lush tropical forest, lunch will be served at the hotel and then transfer to San José for overnight. Our final evening brings us back to San José for a night on the town.
Day Eight
After our final breakfast together, guests transfer to the airport for make their departure flights.
