Going to the Sun - Road Bike Tour Itinerary

Day One

Montana ToursUpon arriving in Montana, you will be met by your guides and taken by shuttle to East Glacier, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where we will spend our first two nights.  Guests immediately begin to marvel at the grandeur of the mountain range and excitement begins to build in anticipation of the coming days.

After checking into our cabins, we head out for a relaxed ride through the local canyons and valleys.  This is a good opportunity to stretch your legs, smell the fresh air, and get comfortable in the saddle.  Ride distance is approximately 20 miles with longer options.

A hearty Montana dinner and smores by the campfire end a perfect introduction to Big Sky Country.

Day Two

After breakfast we mount up and ride through rolling hills and ranch land to visit the Blackfeet Nation - the largest Native American tribe in Montana.  The community of Browning is the last encampment of a proud and mighty people often referred to as "The Lords of the Great Plains" and home to many cultural attractions, including the Museum of the Plains Indian, the Blackfeet Heritage Center & Art Gallery, the Sweet Grass Hills, Holy Family Mission, Triple Divide Peak, and the Lewis & Clark Two Medicine Fight Site and Camp Disappointment.

Our return ride to East Glacier completes the 30 mile route. Those who want additional miles will have the option of riding an alternate route.  Dinner will be enjoyed at our favorite steak restaurant - yes, buffalo is on the menu!  After dinner some may opt to relax, while others venture on to the saloon for a night cap.

Day Three

Going to the Sun HighwayToday is the day we see, many for the first time, the road we have traveled to challenge and conquer - the Going To The Sun Highway, crossing the Continental Divide.   Leaving the bikes behind, we will drive to the summit and Visitor's Center at Logan's Pass.

With great hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty departing in all directions, the Logan Pass area is a great place to spend the day.  Visit sparkling mountain lakes and waterfalls or traverse the granite walls and jagged peaks alongside the mountain goats for spectacular views.

After a stop at St. Mary's Lake, the anticipation begins to build as we return for our final evening in East Glacier.

Day Four

Glacier Park MontanaWith many miles and a great climb ahead, today we start early!  After breakfast, we head out for one of the most beautiful and rewarding stretches of road in North America.  Built in 1932, the road is 52 miles long, crosses the Continental Divide at an elevation of 6,646 feet, and passing through almost every type of terrain in the park - from cedar forests and glacial lakes to lower valleys or high windswept alpine tundra.

The climb is rewarded by a thrilling downhill with breathtaking scenery - but keep your eyes on the road!

Brave souls may stop for a dip in the glacial pool before finishing down the road where we check in at the historic Lake McDonald Lodge.

Day Five

Montana Tours

Today is our day of leisure and multi-sport adventure!  West Glacier is amazing.  With abundant hiking trails, lakes and streams, you are sure to find just the right activity to fill your day.  Wildlife is also plentiful in the park.  It is not uncommon to see mountain goats, big horn sheep, moose, deer, and even bears along the trail.

An evening in the Lodge, guests recap the day's events and share tales and pictures of their adventures.

Day Six

Cycling Whitefish Today is another day of riding in beautiful Glacier Park, Montana.  From the Lodge we head northwest along Highway 486 for a sixty mile ride through the mountains and to the communities of Whitefish and Columbia Falls in the Flathead River Valley.

It is difficult to see too much of this beautiful place and this ride is another great opportunity to see one of the last prestine areas in North America.

With little traffic on the road, riders become emersed in the natural wonder and beauty of the mountains.

Day Seven

Ride MontanaAfter our final breakfast together and an early morning ride, guests are returned to the airport, rested and relaxed with a sense of accomplishment, and memories that will last a lifetime!
