Zermatt, Switzerland, a car-free town nestled at the base of the mighty Matterhorn in the Alps. The area around Zermatt boasts an impressive network of chairlifts and cog railways to ease the difficulty of getting to the start of seemingly endless all mountain singletrack riding. With 30 peaks over 13,000 feel (4000-meters), keep your camera at hand because there are jaw-dropping views around every turn!
Day One
Upon arrival in Geneva Switzerland you'll be greeted by your guides before boarding a train that skirts Lake Geneva before climbing up the Rhone Valley and into the Alps and the little town of Zermatt. Arriving in the afternoon, we'll have time to check out the town before dinner. Zermatt is a favorite year-round travel destination for people from around the world. You’ll immediately begin to experience the myriad of cultures that make up Zermatt.
Day Two
Today we'll start our day on the Gonergrat cog railway that ascending to 10,171 feet (3100 meters) while enjoying spectacular views of Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. Here, riders have a variety of options utilizing area chairlifts to enjoy a wide range of terrain riding. Guests share tales of the ride over dinner and drinks at one of our favorite local spots.
Day Three
After a hearty breakfast, we take two lifts ending at the base of the Matterhorn and to 8,475 feet (2583 meters). Here riders choose from a variety of trails from technical singletracks to access roads, and sections of grassy slopes and forested areas.
Day Four
Some may want to mountain bike every day, others of us are heading to the slopes! With year-round snowboarding and skiing, Zermatt is an ideal multi-sport vacation destination! Ask your For The Ride travel representative about backcountry and heli-skiing day expeditions.
Day Five
Today you will experience some other forms of Swiss transport including the underground funicular, called the Sunnegga Express, the Blauherd gondola, and the 150-person Rothorn cable car. Arriving at a maximum elevation of 10,180 feet (3103 meters), guests choose from an unreal network of seemingly endless singletrack descents
Day Six
After breakfast we'll pedal down the valley through the towns of Tasch, St. Nicholas, Kapeltran to Stalden before taking a lift to Gspon. From Gspon we climb to the Geibundepass before enjoying a long descent to the city of Brig. After dinner at our favorite restaurant, its back to Zermatt on the Glacier Express.
Day Seven
Last chance free ride! As the trip begins to wind down, guests have the option of returning to their favorite ride or joining the group on another great ride.
Day Eight
After our final breakfast together, we board the train back to the airport in Geneva. Depending on flight availability, some guests may need to stay the night in Geneva. A For The Ride travel representative can assist you.
